Soon Black Friday

Writing her before I start to work with my book is a little like warming up. I don´t know why , but I have started to leave summer in my mind. Maybe to prepare myself for the upcoming dark and cold winter. Sweden is really dark and cold during wintertime. However, if there is snow, that makes your life much easier. It affects your mood a lot, at least mine.

What is surprising in Sweden is that we get surprised every year when we get a lot of snow.  Even though we know that there might be a lot of snow, we are somehow not prepared and it is a big surprise every time it is happening.

I am longing for “Allhelgona helgen”, or Halloween. It is so beautiful with all churches filled with candles. Actually, Sweden has been introduced to some American traditions. I like pumpkins a lot. They spice up life with beautiful colors. Some children have started with “trick or treat”. When I was little we never celebrated Halloween. I only remember doing so called “trick or treat” with my best friends at Lucia and at Easter time. At Lucia, we went to houses and sang songs. We got a lot of candy. And we were happy. I´ll see if I find a picture and I will show you. Auntie and her American family has introduced my family to turkey traditions. She has also thought me how to make Caribbean “rhumcake”. She has given me a recipe and an American cup so I can measure the right amount since Swedish and American measuring are not the same. Like a mile and kilometer etcetera.

These mornings I have Swedish breakfast. Porridge and cloudberries. Very good for your stomach. Lots of fibers. Healthy.
