  • To learn and to develop

    I have been, and still am, busy writing and working. I know I should write here to stay in touch, but I do at least some micro blogging on Instagram. I like photos a lot, and it really is true that a picture says more than words sometimes. However, difficult to catch a glimpse of life.

    I still try to do training. Something I need to stay focused and in shape. I have this picture in my mind that I will be doing work out when I am 100 years old. Possible? Yes, I think so.

    I am working on my books. I work with my language that is under constant development. I learn something every day.

  • Last weekend

    I am focusing a lot on correcting my writing, but sometimes I need a break so I go for sports. They are my hobbies: sports and writing. I sure do watch tv but I don´t like to feel that I have wasted my life on tv.

    Hässelbyloppet was fun. I could have done more running before but I like to do different kind of activities. It was very cold and some rain. All runners were very eager to run and that I like a lot. Since the weather was so bad I thought it was my last run this year. However, today is beautiful and I will put my running shoes on.

     

  • The physiology of training

    Tomorrow is Hässelbyloppet and I am at home resting and preparing for tomorrow. It was such a long time ago since I participated in a running event. This will be my third time at Hässelby. I have forgotten how much it is to prepare. Eat right, sleep well, what will the weather be like?  To be honest I have followed SMHI every day this week. Today is rainy and it seems like it will be good tomorrow. I cross my fingers. Actually I have been worried about getting injured so I have to cancel. However, I do a lot of stretch and that prevents a lot.

    I am very interested in physiological changes occurring in the body when training. Currently, I read about the heart how it adapts to increased exercise. In brief, it is a lot about how to get sufficient oxygen to the cells that energy can be released so the muscles can work. Here, the heart plays a huge role. To beat so the blood flow can bring oxygen to the muscle cells. It is very interesting that electrical impulses make the heart contract.

    Previously, I wrote that my own max puls has decreased. It used to be 200 and now it is 180 when cycling. According to a formula it should decrease with a beat per year so it cannot be age related. Since I have read some (SISU Idrottsböcker) about the changes that can occur in the body when doing exercise it might be a change in balance between the sympathetic and the parasympathetic nervous system. Maybe my vagus nerve is more active. I have also noted a change in max pulse when I run versus cycling. Running is definitely more of a challenge.

    It really was a long time ago since I read about the heart and the physiology/pharmacology related to blood pressure and puls. It makes exercise more fun. To measure changes. Now I will spend the rest of this Sathurday correcting my books. I am longing so much for it to be done since I have spent years writing.

  • Sathurday evening

    I had a wonderful training this afternoon. Exercise should be fun. Sometimes that can be forgotten, and today I had to remind myself of that. Life is busy and there is so much I would like to do. However, to stay in shape is always the most important thing to prioritise. Because, if you don´t feel well like having a flue or similar, then you don´t want to do anything. To be sporty improves your immunological defence. Exercise increases your defence.

    This afternoon I was very slow. It was perfect temperature, sunshine, no rain. Saw a beautiful sunset. I had little muscle pain and I was surprised of that since I do a lot of stretch. But, I have commented on that before that running is not cycling. Running is much tougher for me.

    I have got the book on “pulse” that I am reading. There are different intervals to stay at to achieve various goals. My pulse this afternoon was about 150 during an hour. 110 walking. My max pulse has changed. I need to do a new test to see if it really has changed. It used to be 200 and now it is 180. Maybe a physiological explanation. I am a long distance runner and not a sprinter. Unfortunately. Wish I could be faster.

    Enough talking about running. I am currently correcting my book so I need this exercise to be able to read my book from a different angle. Difficult and definitely challenging.

  • On the other side

    Monday evening. I have accepted that autumn is here to stay. It is colder, rainier and darker. So, I have surrendered and I am adapting. This weekend I have done quite a lot of exercise. Running and walking. Since it is chilly, just to put some more clothes on. I need to do more running, maybe more intense like interval training. But most of all, I enjoy. I find it very nice to just run, to think of nothing, maybe see a deer or a fox. Since my little sweetie cannot run I take her for walk after running. She is very cute because she knows that I will run and when I come back it is her turn. Very sweet. Sometimes I bring the camera and I try to catch some glimpses. Difficult, but this weekend focus was on water. Beautiful raindrops.
